e3ef5dc5-0085-4744-abe2-6e605485ea23-876165Department for Transport (DfT), hereafter referred to as DfT, seeks to appoint a contractor to support the assessment of Lane Rental Scheme applications submitted by Highway Authorities. A surge of up to 20 applications is expected in October 2025, following updated guidance issued in April 2025. The contractor will assist in implementing a lighter-touch review process, ensure consistency in applying the 10% network coverage threshold by road length, and help manage the increased workload within existing departmental resource constraints. We may accept schemes with higher than 10% if they provide sufficient evidence. The DfT aims to develop and deliver a transport network that works for everyone. People want reliable, comfortable and affordable journeys. Through its investment, DfT aims to make people's journeys better, faster, and easier both for today, and in the future. DfT is also helping to support the economy and the interests of the whole of the UK, to create a safer, more secure and sustainable transport system.
