5babef12-6d09-4079-8d8c-3325c13bd210-84684These are Ministerial public appointments and recruitment must be carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies. This requires that Government Departments give particular attention to attracting a strong and diverse field of candidates. Improving the diversity of public appointees is a key priority for this Government. Gender, ethnicity and disability are key areas of focus. Every new appointment is an opportunity to improve the proportion of women, BAME people and disabled people on public body boards and Ministers expect every appointment campaign to be rigorous in this area. In particular, all male shortlists or lists of appointable candidates are unlikely to be acceptable to Ministers. Improving the diversity of public body boards is not just about increasing the representation of these groups, but also about encouraging applications from the widest range of backgrounds. The objective is therefore to undertake effective advertising, search and selection processes and present a high quality and diverse field of suitable candidates from which to recruit two to three Non-Executive Directors. At all stages of long listing, short listing and appointables we would expect to see diversity suitably represented. The aim is to ensure Ofwat has the highest calibre of leadership through the expertise and experience of its Board membership. Candidates will need to demonstrate they meet the requirements of the role and job profile. The aim is to recruit up to three individuals who possess the following essential skills and attributes: • Knowledge and working experience of capital markets. • Financial capability – able to make a significant contribution to audit, governance and risk management. • Excellent analytical and intellectual capability, with the ability to analyse and rapidly assimilate complex information/policy proposals. • Evidence of innovative strategic thinking and a track record that demonstrates a willingness to stand by the courage of their convictions. • Reach sound strategic judgements and be able to present coherent arguments for the views reached. The above skills and attributes are subject to the decisions of Ministers and may change. Additional information: For further information, please contact: procurement@ofwat.gsi.gov.uk
