2df0f426-6c5c-4c5e-bc5c-4549e7bbb2ce-852938Ontology and Taxonomy - What the service does This service forms a core part of National Highways' (NH's) ability to record, share and manage institutional knowledge. The ontology acts as a top-level conceptual map of the organisation and acts as a central framework for the disambiguation of conceptual entities across the business. It is the central pillar of NH's conceptual data models. By grouping key related entities together, NH can better create templated families of entities that often appear together in services and products, driving interoperability in data from the bottom up as well as the top down. The taxonomy service exists to effectively master, manage, and maintain lists of things and controlled vocabularies that are key to running the business. By providing a single consistent point of interaction for simple lists of things, interoperability and consistency is driven across domains at the lowest possible opportunity cost.
