160fe2cf-87f5-44b7-8a11-b3c92dec47da-254152The unlisted Cooperage, constructed around 1900, is the last surviving building of the Hewitt Bros Ltd, Tower Brewery that stood on the west side of East Street; its site now occupied by the Crown Court. This project to investigate the Cooperage is part of the wider Greater Grimsby Heritage Action Zone project (2018-23). The main aims of this particular project are to improve our understanding of this distinctive building, to inform options and opportunities for its reuse that retain its most important historic features. This brief is for a Historic England Level 3 building record, to include a search for any archival records relating to the building, to provide information on its local and national context, and to comment on its significance.
