0240e61b-094d-4212-990b-6a1870aca42d-806408Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council (TMBC) ('The Council') is looking to appoint a main contractor to carry out permanent roof repairs to the Tonbridge Castle Gatehouse.\r Tonbridge Castle is located in the centre of Tonbridge, just north of the River Medway. The ground within the site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Listing Nr. 1013359) as well as the medieval stone gatehouse and surviving walls. The gatehouse and castle grounds generally are operated as a tourist attraction. Many schools also visit the attraction for educational purposes.\r The external areas of the site are accessible at all times to members of the public but can be shut with prior agreement. The site hosts numerous events throughout the course of the year, the majority of which take place on the Bailey Lawn. These include music events in the summer and a Christmas event in the winter.\r \r The current roof was installed on the Gatehouse as a millennium project in the early 2000s and received lottery funding. Prior to that there had not been a roof on the structure for many years. The work included:\r - The reconstruction to archaeological standards of missing features, such as walling, paving, spiral staircase, oak floor and roof structures at basement, ground and first floor levels\r - The provision of new electrical services for lighting and audio-visual presentation\r - Visitor access to a roof level viewing platform\r \r \r Milestone Anticipated date\r Issue tender 23rd September 2024\r Expression of Interest deadline 7th October 2024 @ 12:00pm\r Deadline for requests of clarification 7th October 2024 @ 12:00pm\r Tender submission deadline 18th October 2024 @ 12:00pm\r Tender evaluation w/c 21st October 2024\r Tender interviews 29th October 2024\r Appointment of contractor w/c 18th November 2024\r Mobilisation period w/c 18th November 2024 - 10th January 2025\r Start on site 13th January 2025\r Date for completion w/c 21st April 2025\r \r *** ALL EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AND RESULTING CORRESPONDENCE MUST BE MADE VIA THE KENT BUSINESS PORTAL***\r www.kentbusinessportal.org.uk
