53cfb5c8-ea3a-48a2-af04-bdac190a10c2-97902Dorset County Council has a statutory duty to make support available to young people below the age of 19 that will encourage, enable or assist them to participate in education or training and to secure sufficient suitable education and training provision for all young people aged 16-18 (inclusive). In order to fulfil this duty, the local authority is expected to track the participation of young people in education and training, and ensure that young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) are supported to participate. The key aim of the Information, advice, guidance and tracking (IAGT) service is to enable all young people to participate effectively in appropriate learning - whether in school, Further Education college, training provider, employment (where appropriate) or other community setting and by raising their aspirations so that they reach their full potential. The IAGT service has a central role in helping to deal with problems experienced by young people; it acts as an early intervention service by removing any wider barriers to effective engagement in learning that young people are suffering. It also brokers access for young people to a range of more specialist services. We are seeking a Provider to deliver the following outcomes: • We know where young people are and what they are doing; • We identify vulnerable young people early, share this information appropriately and intervene in order to reduce the likelihood of becoming NEET; • We reengage young people who are NEET • Young people with SEN/D make good transitions into adulthood • Children in care and care leavers make good transitions into adulthood The contract will cover the period 1st November 2016 to 31st October 2019 with the possibility to extend for two further 12 month periods.
